DXF Cleaner analyses and repairs your DXF files for CNC applications: laser engraving, plasma cutting, CNC milling. It finds and fixes the common defects all at once: contours that do not quite close, duplicates, overlapping strokes, micro-segments, loops, and so on.
DXF Cleaner converts curves into polylines, removes micro-segments and duplicates, removes vectorization residues (overlapping strokes, back-and-forths), and closes open contours. It never adds geometry and never moves a point beyond the tolerances shown. A check then reads the produced file back and compares it with the original.
They define what the tool treats as a defect, in the unit of your drawing: the distance below which two points are the same point, the gap that may be closed, the length of a dangling stroke to remove, and how closely the polyline follows the curve. The details of each setting, with diagrams, are in the “?” tooltip next to the Tolerances heading.
The default values suit most files, and the “Default values” button restores them at any time. The most useful setting is closing: if a contour stays open when it should close, increase it. Set it from your drawing: larger than the gaps to close, smaller than the spaces to keep.
Each layer is processed independently. Every entity stays on its layer, with the colour and line type of its original strokes. Layers are never mixed.
If a contour refuses to close, first check in your CAD software that all its entities are on the same layer.
No. The processing runs entirely in your browser: the file is never uploaded and the page contacts no server. You can disconnect once the page has loaded, the tool keeps working.
All of them, from R12 to current releases, provided the file is ASCII DXF. The version is preserved.
No. The tool writes nothing to your disk: it offers a new file to download, named after the original followed by -dxfcleaner.dxf. Your original file stays untouched, and you can drop it again as many times as you like.
